Kavitha Karunakaran is a software engineer with 15+ years of experience designing resilient, high-scale backend and infrastructure systems. She has contributed to global organizations including Hewlett Packard, Deloitte, Robert Bosch, State Bank of India, and Upsun (formerly Platform.sh), delivering platform-level improvements across global product environments and regulated banking systems.
Her expertise spans complex distributed systems challenges including resource isolation, container orchestration, high availability, and storage architecture. She brings deep hands-on experience in Java, Go, and Python, along with a strong interest in Rust, combined with architectural thinking and cross-functional influence. Kavitha is a strong advocate of clean design, reliability engineering, and long-term maintainability.
Having carved out dedicated time to focus on open source, she is now actively contributing to the CNCF ecosystem through Meshery. Based in Bengaluru, she is passionate about cloud-native technologies, developer experience, and collaborative innovation.
Outside of her professional work, she enjoys traveling, singing, playing keyboard, and creating pencil sketches. She also cherishes spending quality time with her husband and child.
